A catch-all thread for information our (more) serious RP characters, so everyone knows who plays what... and for some background on them all.
Please remember, unless there's an outside agreement between the controllers, your character doesn't know things about the other character until they get told, kay? Werr.
Please state what thread these are for, and... werr... well, the format varies. What e'er works well, I suppose.

This is a little basic character template that I came across that I thought we could use. You just copy and paste, and fill it out in your post.
Name: This is simple. Your character's full name.
Sex: Male or female. Please, no neuters.
Age: In years. If your character does not age the way a normal person would for some strange reason, you can put their apparent age in addition to or instead of their chronological age. And say why.
Appearance: This should be lengthier than the others, and describe your character's physical features. Use their race as a starting point, but use your imagination to make your character unique.
Strengths: What is your character particularly good at? These are NOT skills, but rather personality and background features. This may include things ranging from a photographic memory, quick reflexes, or other strengths of body, mind, and character. If your character is born to the nobility, or is somehow in a better situation than others, please list it here.
Weaknesses: What is your character bad at? This should be used to balance out the strengths somewhat, though a weak character can be fun. Have fun with this, and keep in mind that characters are no fun if they're perfect.
Possessions: List your character's possessions: articles of clothing, weapons, pets and mounts, and other property here. Don't go overboard on how much stuff you have, though. You can update this as needed, if you purchase more items.
History: This does not have to be extensive, but give us some idea of your character's backstory. Include where they were born (this can be somewhere of your choosing deemed to be a foreign country, or a place within... whatever country this takes place in, and its immediate neighbors), what their childhood was like, and any exceptional events that happened to them. In the future, you may want to update and change this, to reflect your character's progress through the realms.
Combat Skills: Well? Can he fight? It's pretty basic.
Arcane Skills: Same as above, but with magic.
Practical Skills: Same as above, but with practicalities, such as tracking, thieving, hunting, etc.
Not sure if that's useable, but if TEO thinks it's all right we could use it. And maybe flesh it out and change it around for our specific needs a bit.

Your characters don't know things about other characters until that character's controller reveals them. Whew. Tongue twister. Christopher does not know that Helen nearly drowed when she was three, even if it's in her character sheet, until Helen reveals this.

Yeah... I'm gonna use him for the real one too. Name: Syn Karakin (obviously a pseudonym, his real name is Riyo Citoyen d'honneur) Sex: Male Age: 26 Height: 6' 3" Weight: 175 lbs. Appearance: Syn has white hair from a traumatic childhood experience, which he wears long and stringy. He has piercing blue eyes, as well as a well tanned face. He wears several pieces of jewelry, the most notable the silver spoon with wings (it actually is a symbol, but that is the best description I can come up with). He wears a white jacket of armor as well as a vest of white armor. His white pants seem to never get dirty, partly because Syn takes incredibly good care of his clothes because they are expensive and sentimental value. Syn wields a great sword with both hands. Strengths: Syn has quick reflexes, and as a result wears little armor. His is a good leader, and is respected by local warriors as well as smaller nobles and warlords. He has won field battles with smaller forces and is known as a tactical genius. He is calm and collected, although on a level that many find him to be cold. Weaknesses: Syn is arrogant when it comes to his speed, and has lost one or two personal battles as a result of his lack of full body armor. He also comes across as cold because of his cold manner and willingness to take risks with other's lives. He also has no close friends or allies, and therefore no where to turn when pushed into a corner. He also has absolutely no trust in anyone else, except those he has lead that he feels have proved themselves. Possessions: 1 White jacket and white vest all of armor. White pants. Army boots. 1 Great sword. Various jewelry. 1 Magical Field Telescope (like the kind they have on ships, I can't think of the name) with a crest of blood on the conclave mirror. This allows Syn to see nearly anything that isn't over the horizon. It can even see through walls-to a certain extent. The problem is that it takes significant consentration and drains Syn's energy really fast. Horse and riding material. 100 currency (whatever we decide it's called) History: Riyo (later Syn) was born in a quiet backwater farming village (pop. 50). There, he proceeded to grow up as a normal farm boy. But then when he was twelve, a traveling swordsman visited his village. Riyo then worked odd jobs for the man, helping him set up a small hut at the edge of the village. In return, the swordsman taught Riyo the basics of swordplay. Little did the village know it, but their new resident brought their downfall. A band of mercenaries came along and attacked the village for harboring the “Massah Slayer.” The mercenaries killed several people trying to get them to tell where the swordsman was. Riyo luckily was off at the man's house when the bounty hunters attacked, but he and the “Massah Slayer” saw the smoke soon enough. When they returned, they found that the entire village was razed, Riyo's father, killed. Riyo and the swordsman tracked the mercenaries, arriving just in time to see them rape and torture some of the villages women. They then noticed Riyo, right at the same time Riyo realized the swordsman had abandoned him (it wasn't until later that Riyo learned that the swordsman had left to save the women). This, along with the destruction of his family, lead to the boy Riyo dying, and the adult Syn taking over. The mercenaries enslaved him, and over time the stress and trauma turned his hair white. He eventually killed his captors and escaped when they were ambushed by some law-men for some killing somewhere. Syn then tracked down his old friend, the swordsman “Massah Slayer,” to kill him. In his travels, Riyo learned much and acquired his white armor. He finally found his former mentor, only to discover him to be old and decrepit. The two came to an understanding, and the swordsman gave Syn his great sword. Syn then was conscripted into a small feudal army with a mission to take over the surrounding small kingdoms. He quickly rose with his unique view of the battlefield and seeming coolness. Combat Skills: Syn is exceptional with a great sword or a long sword. Arcane Skills: No magic skills at all. Practical Skills: Syn is a excellent leader and commander in battle. He has lead several small armies in conquering near-by land. He also is good at tracking and otherwise living in the wilderness. Afterthought and Note: Riyo/Syn is looking for a second in command, not trusting the rank-and-file to be creative and smart enough to take over.

Appearence: Mimiko has long red hair that goes down to the middle of her back and neatly cut bangs that hang evenly above her eyebrows. She is around 5 feet, 6 inches with a very thin and spindly frame. Her oddest features, however, are her skin and eyes. Mimiko has pure white skin and deep, round, crimson eyes, that look intimidating and innocent at the same time. Despite these traits, she is a human.

History: Mimiko was originally born to a noble family, but because of her unusual coloring, she was dumped in a small and reclusive mountain village as a toddler and abandoned, where she was found by Yukihito Takayana, an alchemist exiled by the royal family of the country for unknown reasons. He raised her well in fighting, magic, and intellect, but due to her habits, Mimiko is still a child in emotional and social skill development.
Yukihito had fallen ill and told Mimiko that he was on his death bed and to find his lover, Anita, and to bring her back so he could see her one last time. Mimiko packed her belongings and set out by herself to find Anita, and to also persue her dream of becoming a Fire Master so she can teach children Fire Manipulation and other academics in a university someday. She is currently wandering around when she gets swept up into the main story.
Combat Skills: Basic self-defense, is very quick and agile, is not a strong physical fighter, has some skill with a knife
Arcane Skills: A medium-level Fire Manipulator working on higher-grade spells, striving to hopefully be a successful Fire Master one day
Practical Skills: Mimiko has a good education and is well read, and can remember stuff she reads very well. She knows how to survive on her own from books, but has had very little practice at it. Mimiko is willing to be in the fight and help fight, but is also willing to hang back and be defense, basically she would do just about anything to help in combat. She likes to cook soup and can play the flute, and she has a fondness for children's games and board games.

Name: Dominiqu Matchiko
Sex: Female.
Age: 15
Appearance: 5'0 even, athletic build, straight black hair that hangs a bit below the shoulders, tanned skin that's common of her people. Some of her locks of hair are braided and have things woven into them (Feathers, beads, small animal's vertebra, but oddly, nothing shiny). Green, mischievous eyes, normal sized, pointy nose. Likes to wear bright colors unless she's on a job. She holds herself confidently, making people often mistake her for older then she is (The most common being 19), and can give herself different 'airs' about her. Arrogant, self-conscious, innocent, you know.
Weight: She looks like she weights about 100lb or so, because of her thin frame, but she weights closer to 120 because of muscle.
Strengths: Climbing, slight-of-hand, making an entrance, causing distractions, twisting words, manipulating others, scheming, getting what she wants, flirting, dancing, singing, general thieving (Burgling, pick-pocking, you know the drill).
Weaknesses: Blending into crowds, holding her tongue, hoarding things, shiny things, fire (Though she loves it, she's terrified of being burned), the ocean. She tends to use charm and flirting to get what she wants and to get out of trouble, and the small fact that she's klepto, which gets her into trouble. Despite her thieving, she's never been able to learn how to pick a lock, thought countless have tried to teach her, she tends to just find another way in.
Possessions: Soft-leather moccasins, green pants (not baggy, but not too tight), orange bandanna, purple tanktop-style shirt (hard to explain, I'll get a picture), blue, sleeveless jacket that's bottom hem hangs around her ankles. Black pants (same style), black shirt (long sleeved, tighter fitting sleeves then a peasent blouse, but that same idea), black thigh-high boots, and black bandanna. Black leather worn satchel holding various objects, not worth listing, two wooden and three metal spoons (One metal spoon has serrated edges, like a grapefruit spoon). Thin rope that's strong enough to hold her weight. A small pen knife, boot knife, dagger, and whip. Seven glass vials (empty). A piece of shiny string. A smooth rod of wood (A bit thicker then a pencil) that's about a foot long. Five pouches (Two belt pouches, one over the shoulder, and two holding pouches). Eight copper rings, three copper anklets, an iron necklace, iron hoop earrings, three in each ear (Circumference of a quarter, penny, then dime). Many different colors of face paint. A small pouch of ashes. A sling (Not a sling shot, a real sling). A black shirt with brass coins dangling from the edges (It makes pretty noises if she dances in it, earning her some coin.
History: Domi is a full-blood Romani, one of the gypsies. Orphaned at age five when her parents were killed in a riding accedent, she was raised by her Aunt until she was around 13, when she set off on her own, after she'd learned all she could with her remaining family.
Combat Skills: She can defend herself enough to get away from most untrained attackers without a weapon, a fair hand with a knife or dagger, and can defend herself from unarmed attackers with her wooden rod and her metal spoons (serrated one is best), but they're useless if the opponent is armed. She can also use the sling quite well for shooting, and just loading it and braining people with it.
Arcane Skills: No technical magic skills, but knows tricks that make her look like she has magic, and knows some herblaw, but not much as of yet.
Practical Skills: Thieving, hunting (with a sling and stones), climbing, breaking into place, tailing (following people), cooking, herblaw (a bit), pickpocketing, observational skills (finding a mark in a crowd, spotting guardsmen, etc...), disguising herself, singing and dancing. She can speak fairly good Romani-Chib (The language the Rom speak), but that isn't very handy, as only gypsies speak it.

Err... yeah. I think I'm gonna use the same character for the test and the real one, 'cuz I just put WAY too much work in character development in my first post to let this character slide.
Name: Master Teyric Onwaje Bysben The Astounding
Sex: Male.
Age: 19
Appearance: Teyric, at only 5'7", is not particularly tall, but he has the charm necessary to make up for his size and youth. He has brown hair which he wears long, almost down to his collar, and very dark brown eyes that twinkle with mischief. He has a flair for the dramatic, and he always wears an enormous shiny crimson cloak, which he likes other people noticing.
Strengths: Generally well-meaning, even if he does enjoy causing and getting into trouble, and has the charm and people skills necessary to worm his way out of difficult situations. Has a somewhat “raffish” manner with the ladies, (which earns him a large fraction of the aforementioned trouble), but deep down he really does care about those he is close to, and likewise his player personality comes from the fact that he has a genuine affection for women, not that he just wants to sleep with them. He is easygoing and affable, and can make others feel at home around him. He is assertive and funny without being loud and annoying, and people trust him automatically.
Weaknesses: He can be a bit unfeeling about other people's emotions (an offshoot of his love of troublemaking), and even though he would like to be kinder and more sensitive to others' problems, he still tends to act or speak on instinct, rather than thinking about how his actions or words will affect others. He can fight decently well, but sometimes holds back too long because he dislikes it and would rather worm his way out, tending to rely on his charm too much. He has a weakness for a pretty face, and is fairly easily fooled by a woman if she lies convincingly. When he's in a relationship, there is no lack of fidelity on his part, but it has been a long time since he's been in a serious relationship, and he bounces from one one-night-stand to another.
Possessions: -Shirt, vest, boots, and crimson cloak; all have numerous pockets. -Bullwhip. -Several decks of cards, including dozens of trick cards, glass balls and cups (several with false bottoms), a piece of rope with a false knot, packs of blasting powder that make copious amounts of smoke, mirrors, coins, several tiny knives, metal rings of several sizes, many multicolored scarves; all for use in magic tricks.
History: Teyric was born a noble, the son of a knight, in House Bysben of the continent across the sea, but he felt smothered under the rigid lifestyle. His mother died giving birth to him and his father was always away on the king's business or entertaining boring people, and so he always and he and his father always clashed over the proper way for a young nobleman to behave. When he was thirteen, he finally ran away from home and has never gone back. He doesn't like to admit it, but he feels very homesick sometimes, and wants very badly to be loved and accepted. He had a hard time of it at first, but then, when he was staying at a small, seedy tavern one night, he saw an ancient street magician named Owndyn The Magnificent perform, and he was fascinated. After the show, he sought out Master Owndyn and pestered him so much that the old man finally took Teyric under his wing and taught him the ways of the street magician. He learned much traveling with Owndyn as a magician’s assistant, and when the old man died three years later, when Teyric was 17, he stepped into the old man’s shoes with ease. Since then he has been traveling the land, going from town to town and earning money by performing in taverns. Usually he claims that his magic is real, because it brings more money that way, but this can get him into trouble occasionally if he is discovered.
Combat Skills: He has a bullwhip that he can use fairly well to cut somebody up, but in one-on-one combat he wouldn’t fare too well against someone with a sword or axe, as a whip has almost no defensive value, and if it does he’s not quite sure how that would work, as he’s never been trained in how to fight with it. Mostly he just thrashes around and hopes for the best. Much of the time the whip is for practicalities, anyway, and he dislikes fighting with it.
Arcane Skills: None, though he has considerable skill as a magician with magic tricks. This causes some to believe that he does, in fact, know magic. As this is an impression which he likes to cultivate, he rarely tells anyone the secret to his magic tricks.
Practical Skills: Can do a huge variety of magic tricks flawlessly, which gives the impression to some that he can actually do magic.

Name: Zephyr Torana
Sex: Male
Age: He appears to be in his early twenties. However, he is actually in his late 50s. This shift in appearance is due the failure of an alchemic experiment.
Appearance: Zephyr is a human, although not by much. He stands about 6 feet, 2 inches tall. His crimson hair is relatively short, and also relatively spikey, and has crimson eyes to match. He wears a red trench coat over a black turtleneck and baggy black pants, and tops it off with black combat boots. He also wears a set of onyx bracers, studded with emeralds that contained various liquids. The bracers also have various crests carved into them. His fingernails have been replaced with metal ones.
Strengths: - Extremely logical - Cold and detached. He will do anything it takes to win. - Extremely intelligent. - Has high scientific abilities - Has high mechanical abilities - No morals - Wonderful memory - Very good at manipulating people - Very charismatic - Wonderful memory - Is an extremely accomplished Air manipulator.
Weaknesses: - Ruthless - No morals - Overreacts to defeat - Tends to upset people without realizing it - Somewhat cold - Two-Faced - Deathly afraid of bugs - Somewhat ditzy - Hates the general populus - Acts psychotic at times
Possessions: - A crimson trench coat that seems to have a lot of metal things on it. - Two emerald-studded onyx bracers - A black horse with all of the riding things - Metal fingernails - A seemingly endless amount of money
History: Zephyr was born in a far-away country to a noble family. At the age of 18, he fled the rebellion that had swept his nation and killed all of his family, and he took the family fortune with him. He wandered for ages, before being captured by the King's forces. He worked under the King as an alchemist for 30 years before fleeing captivity. He setteled down in the mountains to the north and continued his experiments. His main goal was immortality, but he failed miserably. One of the failed experiments gave him black wings. The closest he came to sucess was when he reverted his body back to its earlier age of twenty-two. After so many years, the King found out where his little alchemist was hiding. Zephyr fled his mansion, taking with him only his special trench coat, which he could turn into armor using alchemy and all of the metal used in making the coat, his onyx bracers, which aided him in Air Manipulation, his trusted black steed, and a limited supply of money. He wondered from place to place, until he ran out of money. He tried stealing, but it wasn't his thing. So, he used his alchemic skills to make money. Unfortunately, after about two hours, the money turned back into various stones and pebbles. This lead him to be a wanted criminal in most of the country. He still wanders the countryside, looking for a way to topple the King.
Combat Skills: Zephyr is a very acomplished hand-to-hand fighter. Unfortunately for whomever he fights, he uses his alchemic powers to extend his fingernails and sharpen them to a point, making them claws.
Arcane Skills: He uses Air manipulation and Alchemy, and he is very skilled at both. He can't use Air Manipulation without his bracers, but has built-in alchemic powers.
Practical Skills: He can't really do much outside of scientific work, but he is very stealthy.

Bwhaha. I totally forgot about this. ^^ weehee! Better late than never, though, neh?
Name: Orianne. (just Orianne.)
Sex: Female, I should hope. I'm not that good at writing guys...
Age: Not very sure, around fifteen or so.
Appearance: I was mean to myself and made Orianne human. Abnormally short, about 5". Kinda thin, sunken eyes. Really dark brown hair, brown eyes. Wears mid-shin length dark gray dress, brown over-tunic thingy. Sandals. (I'm not getting into too many details, it's been a while since I've done research on time period clothing.) Carries around a bag with a cape and hood (sepperate pieces, please), her doll, a knife (to eat with), and some other assorted objects.
Strengths: -Good memory and recall -Precocious (if you can get her talking) -Doesn't get sick easily -Level headed -Has a thing for smaller dogs -Can speak pretty good German and some Dutch -Wants to be a cleric -Good with numbers -Likes darkness
Weaknesses: -No people skills, whatsoever. -Not too useful when it comes to any kind of combat. *cough* -Gets claustrophobic easily -Doesn't like human blood -Doesn't like people with red hair -Is slightly autistic. (which explains the red-hair thing.) -A little gullible
Possessions: Her bag. A rather-dull knife, some sheep wool, a small wooden doll called Raina, a cape, a hood, and a pair of work-gloves. One or two coins.
History: Orianne was born in a higher peasantish family. Her father takes care of sheep with her older and younger brothers. She grew up being a bit closer to her Aunt then to her mother. Decided she wanted to be a cleric at twelve after meeting one, and asked for permission to go with her Aunt on pilgrimage. During a little *cough* accident involving fires and numerous deaths, the group was split up and now Orianne is traveling pretty much by herself on pilgrimage looking for her Aunt.
Combat Skills: None. She might be able to kick people or whatever, but no real skills or talents...(YAY for uselessness!!)
Arcane Skills: None. Her "element" or whatever is really kinda anti-fire (shadows). (More proof towards the red-hair thing) Doesn't like it, so doesn't use it.
Practical Skills: Basic wittling skills, knows how to plant stuff, can take care of sheep...Yes, she hasn't lead a very eventful life, stop giving me that look.
So, there we go. Happiness, eh? ^^

Name: Saia Khauna
Sex: Chick
Age: 16 winters (16 years, same dif.)
Appearance: About 5' 6'', medium black hair (in the sunlight it shines different colors, mostly blue, green, and purple), brilliant green eyes, and fit, toned body. She looks Middle Eastern, even though she's European. She dresses mostly in black, middle ages clothes (guy clothes), they look worn. She wears a small silvery-blue pendant on a silver chain, and carries a sword.
Strengths: Some say Saia has the reflexes of a cat, others say she is just quick-witted and fast. Isanely good balance, and can use basic magic.
Weaknesses: She can (not on purpose) open her mind, and if you're like a mind reader, you can see what she's thinking about, and you can control her movements and actions.
Possessions: Clothes, Star Blade (her sword), and the pendant thing (her one thing of her mother's).
History: Saia was born as a twin in a small farm. Her sister, Lyf, is her best friend, and they sometimes travel together. When Saia was 10, her father kil led her mother because he's evil. Saia vowed to take revenge upon her father, who fleed afterward, and avenge her mother. (Saia and Lyf's father wasn't all that great of a dad). So now Saia, 16, is still searching for her father, who has become the evil emporer dude of her country, but he is traveling around, collecting the magical runes of Iika, because he is other wise dead if Saia finds him, for he has no magic other than the runes.
Combat Skills: She is strong, fast, and agile. She can beat almost everybody who doesn't have magic, and these days, she can beat pretty much everyone.
Arcane Skills: Saia has a basic knowledge of magic, but she can use the power of her mother's pendent (it has magic powers and such).
Practical Skills: She is really good at climbing stuff, and, again, like a cat, she usually lands on her feet. She can be a thief, anything, really.
Is that ok? I usually use Saia as the main character when it comes to writing stuff. . .

Guys.. some of these characters are Really powerful.
One thing that seems to be slightly disregarded is the fact that we're trying to make beginning characters.
These aren't major problems. I just wanted to point them out.
David started out with a 5000 man army. This is partially believeable since it's actually a lord's or something, but still, him being in control of that many men is... kind of powerful.
MA's strengths and weaknesses list just about every attribute known to man.
Quites' Expert magician is only 19. I realize that in the later Middle Ages, you started your occupation a lot younger, but I still think he should be a bit older for his skills as a magician.
Jette... I'll PM you.
I didn't really have any problems with Furball's or Skiv's, except there aren't any clerics I don't think.
Sorry guys, Don't hate me, but I just wanted to set some pointers for the actual RPG. If you don't agree with something I said, or there's something about your character I didn't know, just say something.

Don't worry. It's good for someone to help to point out things to make the entire experience better.
But anyway, I don't think that the men thing is a big deal because most people's characters could (and probably would) tear through them.
